About Standom

Standom is a free prediction platform built in India, for the things Indian fans argue about: cricket, cinema, music and pop culture. You make calls on real events using Stars, our virtual scoring unit. Correct calls grow your balance and move you up the leaderboard. Incorrect ones don't.

That is the whole product. There is no deposit, no purchase, and nothing to withdraw. What Standom measures is whether your judgement about the things you follow closely is better than the crowd's — which, for most people, is a genuinely open question until they start keeping score.

Fans have always made predictions. What they have never had is a record. The confident wrong call evaporates by Monday; the lucky right one gets retold for a decade. Memory is generous to the person doing the remembering.

We wanted a place where a call is timestamped, priced and settled against evidence — where being right is checkable and being wrong is visible. Almost everyone who starts doing this discovers the same thing: they are less accurate than they believed, and the gap is largest in the things they care most about. That discovery is the beginning of getting better.

Every take is a single question about a real event, with a Yes side and a No side that always sum to 100. The price is set by an automated market maker as players commit Stars — not by us, and not by a bookmaker. There is no built-in margin.

Resolution criteria are published before anyone can make a call, and are never edited afterwards. After the deadline, a scheduled process checks each take against its named source. Clear evidence settles it automatically; thin or contradictory evidence goes to a person. Questions that turn out to be unanswerable are voided and every Star is returned.

We document all of this in the open, because a prediction platform that hides its settlement process is asking for trust it has not earned. Read how the resolution engine works, how prices are set, and how a question gets written and why some are rejected.

Stars are a free scoring unit. You get them for signing up and for playing. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred between accounts, or withdrawn as money. They have no monetary value and never convert into one.

This is a deliberate constraint, not a missing feature. Because there is nothing to buy, no amount of money improves your rank — a player who is simply better cannot be out-spent. Full detail is in What Stars are and in our Terms of Service.

Everything published on this site is written by the team that builds the platform. We do not publish sponsored posts, we do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not run affiliate links in editorial content.

Our guides deliberately avoid quoting statistics we cannot source. Where an article describes how our own systems behave, it is written by the people who build those systems. Where it describes forecasting method, it sets out reasoning you can check rather than results you have to take on faith.

We also publish the limitations. Short leaderboard windows measure luck more than skill; fandom markets are biased in predictable directions; our authoring process is good but not perfect. A platform that only ever argues its own case is not worth reading.

Standom is free and involves no money, but it is still a game that rewards attention, and attention is finite. Play the markets you would follow anyway. Pass on the ones you cannot price. If keeping score stops making you watch more closely and starts making you enjoy it less, that is the signal to step back.
